This was the first Mormon newspaper, published at Independence, Jackson County, Missouri, W. W. [William Wines] Phelps, June 1832–July 1833, and then at Kirtland, Ohio, December 1833–September 1834, with Oliver Cowdery as editor. It was a monthly newspaper and was discontinued September 1834. Issues from June 1832–April 1833 were reprinted and published by F. G. Williams, Kirtland, Ohio, in January 1835. Issues from May 1833–September 1834 were reprinted and published by Oliver Cowdery in June 1836. Reprint issues carry a shortened title, Evening and Morning Star. Reprint 2 vols, in 1.
